Actually, in today\u2019s world you would probably stop reviewing them when you got to the 500MHz processor.<br \/>\nYes, that is correct :\u00a0 <i>500 megahertz.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>But this workstation that was discontinued in the early 2000\u2019s and HP Support ended in 2010 is still in demand worldwide.\u00a0 The three main reasons that it is still in demand are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Software platforms written for this exact chip \/ config.<\/li>\n<li>Machine form factor.<\/li>\n<li>Client base that still has these in use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let\u2019s go over these&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Several major software providers that focus on the energy exploration sector wrote systems specifically for the B2600.\u00a0 They liked the form factor as it could fit easily on ships, tight spots on oil rigs both on the water and small trailer-like controller rooms on land.\u00a0 Since the software was written for these specific machines, and it is tried and true \u2013 it is more preferable to spend a couple of thousand dollars on a refurbished B2600 \/ A6070A rather than re-engineer the software for over $100k.\u00a0 That is a lot of B2600\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>The form factor was also appealing to an end user known as Uncle Sam.\u00a0 Certain ships in the US Navy have slots engineered in control areas to accommodate this machine.\u00a0 Again, along with the software and the size constraints, the B2600 is still the go to machine.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the client base.\u00a0 Think of the largest industries in the world and you can imagine the names.\u00a0 Over the years, we have shipped B2600 machines to oil fields on land and sea, nuclear power plants, major automotive manufacturers, flight simulation training facilities, CNC machining facilities and even pharmaceutical companies.\u00a0 Maybe some of these names sound familiar:\u00a0 US Navy, Honeywell, Ford, GE, Westinghouse, GM, and Merck to name a few.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2492\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maximummidrange.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/HP-B2600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2492\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2492 \" alt=\"The HP B2600 Workstation.
