Back in 2005, NetApp partnered with Brocade and subsequently, in February of 2011, the DataFort product line was discontinued. As a result, many end users were understandably unhappy that the hardware they had invested large amounts of capital dollars in had been discontinued. If you were one of the unfortunate DataFort customers who received the termination letter from NetApp and were left to deal with the aftermath, Maximum Midrange is happy to report that there is light at the end of the Decru DataFort Tunnel.
About the DataFort FC1020:
DataFort FC1020 security appliances have always been somewhat of a niche product and were mainly utilized in Department of Defense locations or contracts to achieve the DoD 5015.2STD certification. FC1020’s also had an installation base among larger Fortune 500 clients who secured financial and client information (think banks and credit cards).
The Decru DataFort FC1020 utilizes encryption, host authentication and secure logging to secure data in storage area network environments.
Features of the FC1020 include:
- Encryption with Advanced Encryption Standard with 256-bit keys
- 5 NL-port or N-port Host and Storage Host Bus Adapter
- Supports 2 Gig Fibre Channel for 10 Gbps total throughput
- Keys can be applied per tape pool, per tape and per HBA writing to DataFort
