Last fall, a member of our blog team posted a great article on the features and specifications of the HP MSL2024 libraries. One of them mentioned was the BL542A.
Here is a quick follow up on that tech post with some real numbers for our readers to think about.
One of the nice features of these libraries is the entry level price point. The BL542A / MSL2024 library with one internal LTO5 3000 fibre channel drive has a list price of $9,200. Not bad at under 10k. But then add in something like a 5 year care pack – US857E and you start to close in on the $12-$13,000 range through HP.
Or you could consider purchasing the same hardware with the same Care Pack combo – BL542A / US857E for a total of $8,550 through Maximum Midrange. Savings to you – between $3,500 and $4,500. That’s real savings for the exact same hardware with the exact same hardware coverage.
