EMC VNX Arrays Quick Summary Chart

Actually, we love this trend. Availability (especially on the refurbished market) is going up and costs are going down.

One of the more popular options at Maximum Midrange is the EMC VNX Unified Flash Storage.

With VNX, you can start small and expand to over 1500 drives with flash only or a hybrid array with SSDs and HDDs.
If you’re not sure how much flash you need, but you know 100% is too much, EMC makes some recommendations:

  • Value Optimized VNX with 3% Flash
    For general purpose workloads that require the best dollar per gigabyte.
  • Balanced VNX System with 10% Flash
    For mixed, virtualized workloads requiring dynamic performance optimization.
  • Performance Optimized VNX with 25% Flash
    For high workloads that need all flash performance.

All members of the EMC VNX family are excellent for consolidation of block storage or file servers, has Enterprise level capabilities such as deduplication, data-at-rest-encryption, local and remote replication and data mobility. Because it’s a unified array, Windows and Linux users can share files in multi-protocol (NFS and CIFS) environments.
